overview of education modules
Participants at the workshops develop teaching modules to use Next-Gen sequencing datasets in a variety of different types of undergraduate courses. They present their ideas to the other participants on the last day of the workshop. The written descriptions of the modules undergo a peer review by other participants. The modules are presented here. In 2013, students described their teaching strategy using powerpoint presentations. Starting in 2014 and continuing through the rest of the workshops, we have used the CourseSource Lesson Template for these education modules.
The modules are listed by the type of data set used:
Eukaryotic Genomic (sequence of eukaryotic whole genomes/RadSeq/Amplicon Seq)
Metagenomics (microbial community sequence of 16S/18S RNA in all genomes of bacteria/fungi in a sample)
Prokaryotic Genomic (sequence of bacterial genome)
RNAseq (sequence of all of the RNA molecules in a sample)
Some of the authors have already released their data for public use, at NCBI or Cyverse. Please contact the coordinator to inquire about accessing data for use in teaching.
